Seasoned photographer Michael Buck began his eclectic photography career in 1993 after graduating from The Center for Creative Studies in Detroit. Assisting three diverse photographers renown for their varied portfolios including Chrysler interior automobile photographer Andre LaRoach, catalog and environmental portraiture artist Chris Clore and General Motors exterior auto photographer Mike Nacoric led to Mikes first professional contribution: Images of the Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique for a Delphi Electronics advertisement in People magazine.
His accomplished internship work catapulted him into a wide array of catalog and commercial experience as a staff photographer for LaBaak Photography in Grand Rapids one year later. Clients included Frigidare, Keeler Brass and Howard Miller. LaBaak also utilized Mikes skills as an industrial photographer.
In 1996, M-Buck Studio opened and so did new opportunities for Mike, beginning with Amway Corporation as his first major client. His polished catalog work soon branched into family portraiture and wedding photography. At the same time, his keen eye and creative, interpretive approach to his subject matter made him a favored regular contributor to Grand Rapids Magazine and its sister publications, Grand Rapids Family Magazine and The Grand Rapids Business Journal. Mike realized instinctive skills in particular as a food and fashion photographer, but his out-going personality and polished people skills made him a reliable event photographer as well. His images of Mickey Rooney and Joanna Worley, taken during their off-Broadway Wizard of Oz run in Grand Rapids, wound up in promotional advertisements at Madison Square Gardens.
From his artistic landscape work featured in Michigan Golf, industrial architecture for a diverse clientele and unique spins on modeling comp packages, Mikes proven himself to be a highly inventive, prolific photographer. |
